With their short movie The Allegory of the Jar, directors duo Ruth Mellaerts & Boris Kuijpers won the price of the jury and the price of the public on the international Shortfilmfestival of Leuven in 2015. This year they are back with The Day the Dogs Disappeared. A story about fear and its insidious rhetoric. When the Haese’s family’s French bulldog disappears, Anna tries to protect her loved ones against an undefined threat. While procedures of the National Security Agency enter into force, a sense of fear is slowly creeping into the family’s life. What once was familiar gradually becomes uncanny.
